Why Apple Weather may not be working on your iPhone today

Users reported outages on Apple Weather’s iPhone app Tuesday, which appear to stem from issues with The Weather Channel — from which Apple Weather sources data.

Downdectector, a real-time outage monitoring program, reported nearly 200 outages for The Weather Channel just before noon CT Tuesday. The primary issue seemed to regard the app, though 8% of reports cited the website as the problem. Various reports say users who open the app are shown “a nearly empty screen.”

Apple Support acknowledged the outage, which it says began around 10:30 a.m. and was ongoing as of 1:45 p.m. Downdetector showed a steep drop in outage reports starting around 12:45 p.m.
