Apple may be considering a radical redesign of its displays for the upcoming 20th-anniversary iPhone, giving consumers a bezel-less screen similar to those on high-end devices from Samsung, Huawei, or Honor.

The company is reportedly eyeing a partnership with Samsung to release an iPhone with a “micro-curved” OLED display, according to a post from an Apple leaker on Chinese social network Weibo, spotted by MacRumors.

This means the screen would curve out over all four sides of the device, rather than forming a hard, straight angle like current iPhones. But it also means the curves may be more moderate than the curved screens found in Samsung devices such as the Galaxy S25 Edge, or even more extreme “waterfall” curved screens, such as those found in the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

The leak also says Apple is planning a “pol-less” display from Samsung. This would mean a panel design that removes the “polarizer layer,” a display component that typically sits on top of the iPhone’s display and manages light, impacting things like readability and contrast.

Apple also reportedly plans to use Samsung’s COE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) instead of its regular polarizer layer in its OLED, comparing the color filter directly to the display’s encapsulation layer. MacRumors thinks this could reduce the thickness of the iPhone’s display stack while improving brightness and minimizing power consumption. This new leak lines up with a report from September 2025 in Korean publication ETNews.

The overhaul was rumored to include a foldable iPhone and a new Pro model that makes “more extensive use of glass.”
