Apple iPhone 18 Pro leak reveals design, camera upgrades expected

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup is already generating plenty of buzz, with rumours and leaks hinting at possible upgrades. Amid all the speculation, one area drawing particular attention is the design. While reports suggest it may not look dramatically different at first glance, a new dummy leak indicates that the real story could lie in the camera hardware. Freshly surfaced dummy units of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max point to a noticeably thicker rear camera setup, even as the overall design remains largely unchanged.

The images, shared by Max Tech’s Vadim Yuryev, show early dummy units based on leaked CAD renders from Apple’s supply chain. These models are typically used by accessory makers and tend to get the dimensions right, making them a useful early indicator of what’s coming. In the latest leak Yuryev shared, they suggest Apple is bulking up the camera module on its next Pro iPhones.

Yuryev says the dummy units have “much thicker cameras”, with the black glass covering the lenses also protruding more than before. He adds that the camera plateau itself is “a bit thicker” than the one on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. In a comparison shot, the silver device — believed to be the iPhone 18 Pro Max — sits next to a blue iPhone 17 Pro Max dummy, making the difference in the camera bump fairly obvious.

What’s interesting is that the rest of the phone doesn’t seem to change much. Yuryev notes that the dimensions are almost identical, with only a marginal increase in height and width. The added bulk appears to be concentrated around the camera area, suggesting Apple is prioritising imaging upgrades without reworking the entire design.

He also stands by the accuracy of these units, describing them as “spot on”, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro dummies he received last year from the same source.
