What color would you like your next iPhone to be? It seems you can, to paraphrase a popular saying, have it in any color so long as it’s not black. It’s now claimed that this will be the second year running with no black Pro iPhone.

The current iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are available in three colors, deep blue, silver and cosmic orange. And yes, you’re right, there’s no black color in that line-up, unlike the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro which offered black titanium among the shades. And the iPhone 14 Pro had Space Black, Apple’s darkest black in a stainless-steel phone.
In other words, black finishes have been an Apple staple for years. To leave it out of the Pro range for a year is one thing, but two years in succession is highly surprising.
New Weibo Leak From Instant Digital
A new leak on Weibo from Instant Digital claims that’s what’s happening. “It seems the black version of the iPhone 18 Pro has been cancelled again, which is disappointing,” it said, in machine translation.
The wording doesn’t seem quite right to me: if it hasn’t been released then to be cancelled, let alone cancelled again, seems imprecise. But I get what they’re saying: there won’t be a black Pro iPhone for another year.
Since black has been key to the iPhone range for much more than a decade, to ditch it twice could be offputting to fans who want the darkest shade for their phone.
If this is correct, it may be down to the fact that one color, cosmic orange, has been very successful for Apple in the latest range. The absence of black doesn’t seem to have hurt the company at all.
Where To Find Black In The 2026 iPhone Line-up
Black is currently available as a color for three of the latest models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air (it’s called space black on the Air).
