MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Samsung is rolling out support for Apple’s AirDrop-style sharing to its newest phones, aiming to make it easier to move files between Android and iPhone devices.
The feature is arriving on the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra through Samsung’s Quick Share service. The rollout, which began in South Korea, has reached the United States. Both phones must be set to “Everyone” in their sharing settings, and early users report the feature works smoothly once enabled.
To use it, Galaxy owners need One UI 8.5 software and Google Play Services version 26.11 or higher. Some owners of older Galaxy models — from the S22 through the S25 — are receiving the same software update, but the iPhone-sharing feature is not active yet. Samsung still has to enable it on the back end.
Samsung’s move follows Google, which added similar cross-platform sharing support to its Pixel phones first.
In a separate tech development, social network Bluesky is facing pushback after launching an artificial intelligence assistant called Attie. The tool is designed to help users build custom feeds using AI.
Within days of its debut, more than 125,000 users had blocked the account, making it the second most-blocked profile on the platform. Bluesky has tried to brand itself as a refuge from an AI-saturated internet, and many users saw the new assistant as a reversal of that stance — especially as some basic features, such as image direct messages, are still missing from the service.
