AUGUSTA, Maine (WGME) — The Maine State Chamber of Commerce is urging CEOs and senior executives across the state to join its opposition to the proposed Maine Online Data Privacy Act.

Along with several other business groups, the chamber is organizing a letter from Maine business leaders opposing a data privacy bill.

They argue the bill could disrupt how businesses operate, market, and compete.

The chamber also says limiting access to consumer data used in digital marketing could drive up costs and make it harder for Maine businesses to reach customers and grow.

The Maine state senate is expected to vote on the proposal Monday.
