First and foremost, Apple is reportedly preparing one of the biggest changes to its iPhone launch strategy in years with the upcoming iPhone 18 lineup. According to recent industry reports, the company may no longer release all new models at the same time. Instead, the iPhone 18 series is expected to arrive in two phases, with the more expensive iPhone 18 Pro models launching first, followed by the standard versions several months later.

According to reports from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, along with reprtos citing supply-chain sources and market watchers such as The Information and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may launch the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone during the fall 2026 event, which is now only a few months away in Apple’s product cycle. The regular iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and possibly a second-generation iPhone Air are expected to arrive later, sometime in spring 2027.

This staggered launch means buyers who usually wait for the standard iPhone may not see a new model in the fall for the first time in years. But why the change?
