General Motors will invest approximately $40 million into its Toledo Propulsion Systems facility to expand manufacturing capacity, according to State Rep. Elgin Rogers.
The investment is designated to support the production of a new transmission variant for the Chevrolet Equinox and other GMC vehicles, according to the announcement.
“This investment supports local manufacturing jobs and reaffirms Ohio’s critical role in GM’s manufacturing footprint,” Rogers said in a statement.
The Toledo facility has seen more than $1 billion in total investment from General Motors since 2011.
The move comes as automakers continue to balance traditional internal combustion engine production with evolving technological requirements for the next generation of SUVs and crossovers.
