During severe weather, you should have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Severe weather season is here and now is the time to make sure you are weather-ready to best protect yourself and your family in an emergency.
You should never rely on tornado sirens to alert you during severe weather. Sirens are only helpful for people who are outdoors, and in some cases, they may be outdated and not work.
If you have the right notifications turned on, alerts will be directly sent to your smartphone.
For extra safety, download the free WHAS11 app to receive additional alerts when severe weather is near Kentucky or southern Indiana.
You can watch live coverage and track storms on live radar, even if your power goes out. You’ll also get in-depth forecasts in advance of storms.
