Apple is reportedly developing its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Fold, which could debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during the company’s expected September launch event. The device is said to feature a book-style folding design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. If the launch takes place this year, it would also coincide with Apple completing 50 years since its founding, making the foldable iPhone a potentially significant milestone product for the company.
Leaks about iPhone Fold continue to surface, offering a clearer picture of what Apple might be planning for its first foldable phone. According to a report by The Bell, the device is expected to feature 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, similar to Apple’s Pro models like the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The RAM is reportedly being supplied by Samsung.

Another leak from tipster Instant Digital suggests the foldable iPhone may launch with three storage options: 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Pricing estimates in China indicate that the base 256GB model could cost around 15,999 yuan (about Rs 2.15 lakh), while the 512GB version may be priced at 17,999 yuan and the top-end 1TB model at 19,999 yuan, positioning the device firmly in the ultra-premium segment.

In terms of hardware, the iPhone Fold is rumoured to feature a 7.8-inch inner folding display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 5.5-inch outer screen, both likely using AMOLED panels.
