Ind. (WNDU) – The state of Indiana is partnering with Ohio to test some new automated technology in a way you might not expect.
Through a partnership, Indiana and Ohio will bring advanced automated technology to semi-trucks traveling between the two states.
This initiative is now in its second round of deploying trucks across I-70 as the first round began last spring.
The trucks are delivering goods for Nussbaum Transportation, a long-standing midwestern freight transportation company.
They are equipped with a variety of automatic safety features designed to lower the risk of crashes and ease driver stress.
Some of the features include sensors, lane departure assistance, medical emergency detection, and blind spot detection.
The Indiana Department of Transportation also commented on the project, offering a hearty endorsement.
“INDOT continues to partner with Drive-Ohio to explore automation technology in commercial trucking here in the crossroads of America. Features being deployed will assist the driver and represent another innovative step forward to make our highways safer.”
