Apple has confirmed the battery cycle rating for the new MacBook Neo, and the number matches what buyers already see on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The company updated its official battery support document and added the entry-level laptop to the list. The update shows that MacBook Neo supports a maximum battery cycle count of 1,000, which places it in line with most modern Mac notebooks.
Battery cycle count measures how many times a laptop uses the equivalent of a full battery charge. A cycle does not require the battery to drain from 100 percent to zero in one go. For example, if you use 60 percent of the battery one day and 40 percent the next day, the system records one full cycle once the total reaches 100 percent.
According to Apple’s updated support documentation, the MacBook Neo joins MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and other MacBook models released since 2009 with the same 1,000-cycle limit. Earlier Mac notebooks from the pre-unibody era had much lower limits, sometimes between 300 and 500 cycles, which meant the battery reached its expected lifespan much sooner.

Apple designs its lithium ion batteries to retain up to 80 percent of their original capacity when they reach the maximum cycle count. At that point the battery counts as consumed, and Apple recommends replacing it, although the laptop continues to function normally with reduced battery capacity.
In practical terms, a user who completes one full cycle every day would need almost three years to reach the 1,000 cycle mark. Many people use their laptop less heavily, which stretches that timeline well beyond five years.
The MacBook Neo includes a 36.5 watt hour lithium ion battery that Apple rates for up to 16 hours of video playback and up to 11 hours of wireless web browsing. The laptop starts at $599 and launched with Apple’s latest entry level Mac lineup.
