Intel’s Panther Lake-powered laptops are finally out in the wild, and their performance in the thin-and-light category is phenomenal. Apple’s MacBook Pro models with the M4 Pro have generally dominated heavy content-creation workflows in the past, but now there is a serious contender that delivers very comparable performance while unplugged. The Dell XPS 16 has been updated to use the newer Panther Lake CPUs and boasts impressive specs. While there is a much stronger M4 Pro Max variant, we are comparing the M4 Pro, which appears to be in the same $2,500 price point.

Apple MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) vs Dell XPS 16: Specs comparison

Comparing the CPUs directly wouldn’t be fair at all because the M4 Pro is ARM-based, whereas the XPS 16 with Panther Lake is built for the x86 platform. With that being said, both platforms have a hybrid core design and deliver incredible power efficiency.
