Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max later this year. So, when the rumors started circulating that Apple is already running a test production of the iPhone 18 Pro series, it didn’t really come as a surprise. If anything, it looks like things are on track.

iPhone 18 Pro test production kicks off

This tidbit comes from Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, who claims that Apple has started the test production for the iPhone 18 Pro. What’s interesting about the post is that Apple hasn’t made any real tweaks to the overall choice of materials, design, or specifications. This means that whatever we’ve been hearing from before should still hold somewhat true. At least as far as rumors are concerned.

Apple hasn’t confirmed a launch date yet. However, based on past iPhone launch events, we’re probably looking at somewhere around September later this year. Also, for those who haven’t been following the rumors, Apple is switching up its launch strategy. Instead of launching the full lineup, Apple will only launch the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.

These devices are expected to debut alongside the foldable iPhone. This would also mark Apple’s first foray into the foldables space. It’s going to be interesting, especially with competitors like Samsung having years already in the market. But Apple has its loyal fanbase, which would probably help. Especially if the rumors about its form factor and near-invisible crease are true.

What should we expect?

In terms of design, don’t expect anything too drastic from the iPhone 17 Pro series. Apple will largely keep the same design. However, there are rumors that suggest the design changes are on the front. The company is apparently moving to a hole-punch camera cutout for the front-facing camera. Don’t worry, Dynamic Island isn’t going anywhere, it’s just shifting positions.

Also, Apple could be considering a new “deep red” finish option. It turns out the orange…
