Apple is preparing to introduce a new low-cost MacBook with vibrant color choices, including pink, as early as March 2026, marking the company’s most colorful laptop lineup in decades and targeting students, educators and budget-conscious consumers.

Pink MacBook Release Date: Apple’s Budget MacBook to Feature Pink Color Option in March 2026 Launch

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported, in his Power On newsletter that Apple has tested playful shades for the upcoming entry-level model: light yellow, light green, blue, pink, classic silver and dark gray. While not all may make the final cut, the inclusion of pink and other bright hues would revive the spirit of Apple’s colorful iBook G3 era from the late 1990s, which featured options like Tangerine, Blueberry and Key Lime.

The device, often referred to as the “budget” or “low-cost” MacBook, represents a new category distinct from the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lines. It is expected to launch at an Apple special event — potentially March 4, 2026, based on recent invitations for a “special Apple Experience” in New York, London and Shanghai — with mass availability shortly after.

Analysts project a starting price between $599 and $799, undercutting the current MacBook Air’s $999 entry point and positioning it to compete in the education and enterprise segments where affordability drives adoption. The laptop will feature an aluminum chassis for a premium feel despite the lower cost, a 12.9-inch IPS display (slightly smaller than the 13.6-inch MacBook Air), and Apple’s A18 Pro chip — the same processor powering the iPhone 16 Pro series — rather than an M-series silicon.

This chip choice enables strong performance for everyday tasks, Apple Intelligence features and light creative work while keeping manufacturing costs down. The design retains Apple’s signature thin-and-light aesthetic but introduces bolder aesthetics to appeal to younger users accustomed to colorful iPads and iPhones.
