In an interview with the Financial Times, Suleyman said that the company is working to build what he described as “professional-grade AGI” — systems capable of performing most tasks carried out by human professionals.
“White-collar jobs, essentially those sitting in front of computers… most of these tasks will be fully automated by AI within the next 12 to 18 months,” he noted.

Enterprise focus and automation drive
Suleyman linked the prediction to Microsoft’s enterprise strategy. He said the company aims to expand its share of the corporate market by developing AI systems that can automate routine and repeatable tasks currently handled by skilled staff.
Technology companies are increasing investment in AI tools for businesses. Salesforce has reportedly cut up to 1,000 roles as it shifts resources towards artificial intelligence. Other large technology and logistics firms have also announced workforce reductions in recent weeks.
Microsoft has focused on embedding AI into workplace software, including tools for drafting documents, analysing data, coordinating projects and managing customer interactions.
