AVANDATIMES.COM – Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, is actively exploring the integration of artificial intelligence into its animation pipeline, signaling a significant shift towards accelerating content production while aiming to maintain artistic integrity. The entertainment giant recently showcased Animaj, a startup from its 2025 Disney Accelerator Program cohort, demonstrating how AI can dramatically reduce the time required to bring animated series to screens.

Animaj’s technology, which leverages AI to streamline the animation process, was presented to executives and media attendees at Disney’s Main Street Cinema. The company highlighted its work on “Pocoyo,” a children’s YouTube series, as a prime example of the efficiency gains. Sixte de Vauplane, CEO and co-founder of Animaj, emphasized the profound impact of their tools on production timelines.

“Thanks to this tool, it takes less than five weeks to produce a 5-minute-long episode, whereas it used to take five months,” de Vauplane stated, speaking after the presentation.

This acceleration comes at a time when generative AI tools, such as Google’s Veo 3 and OpenAI’s Sora 2, have become more accessible, enabling individuals to create animations without extensive artistic skills. However, the broader entertainment industry, particularly Hollywood, has expressed concerns about AI’s potential to displace human artists.

Animaj asserts that its technology is designed to augment, rather than replace, animators. The system focuses on automating the “in-between” movements of characters, allowing human artists to concentrate on sketching key poses and refining the overall flow. Animators retain control, with the ability to tweak and correct AI-generated sequences.

Disney has confirmed that a partnership with Animaj is imminent, with discussions underway regarding the potential deployment of this AI system across Disney Branded Television and Disney Television…
