Samsung Display will begin mass production of 8th-generation OLED panels in May, with Apple targeting a fourth-quarter launch for its first OLED MacBook Pro.
The Korean display maker plans to ship approximately 2 million panels to Apple by year’s end, according to reports from The Elec and multiple industry sources.
The production schedule matches Apple’s planned Q4 2026 release window. Samsung’s A6 line will manufacture 14-inch and 16-inch panels specifically for the redesigned MacBook Pro models. This marks the first mass production of 8th-generation OLED technology worldwide.
Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro will feature the company’s next-generation M6 chip, marking the first complete redesign since 2021. The new laptops reportedly include a thinner chassis and could eliminate the display notch in favor of a hole-punch camera design.
Samsung Display will serve as Apple’s exclusive panel supplier for the initial launch. The company invested 4.1 trillion won (approximately $2.83 billion) in its 8th-generation OLED production line, which began construction in 2023.
