Marlin, Texas (KWTX) – Marlin Independent School District officially celebrated the launch of its new K-12 Cyber Security Pathways Program on Thursday, February 5, bringing together district leaders, education partners, and community stakeholders to highlight an innovative initiative designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in cybersecurity.

The program, led by Baylor University’s Central Texas Cyber Hub, represents a significant investment in students’ futures. Marlin ISD was one of only eight local school districts selected for the first cohort, a distinction that underscores the district’s commitment to educational excellence and workforce readiness.

Building Partnerships for Student Success

At the heart of this initiative is a robust collaboration between Marlin ISD and multiple academic and industry partners, including ESC Region 12, Baylor University, Central Texas College, McLennan Community College, Scinary Cybersecurity, and CyberWorkforce. The effort also includes partnerships with neighboring districts: Bosqueville ISD, Chilton ISD, Hubbard ISD, McGregor ISD, Moody ISD, Morgan ISD, and West ISD.

Marlin ISD Superintendent Alphonso Antonio Bates emphasized the significance of these collaborative relationships during the media event.

“It’s an awesome opportunity for us to know that Marlin ISD has continued to grow its partnerships with its community members and its other stakeholders,” Bates said. “To hear that this partnership allows our students to get experiences and opportunities to be able to be successful is exactly what we’re striving for.”

Bridging Education and Workforce Opportunity
