Apple on Monday released iOS 26.2.1 for iPhones along with updates for iPads and Apple Watches in an unexpected move that also included rare software refreshes for older-generation devices.
The release, which coincided with the debut of the second-generation AirTag and a new Apple Watch Black Unity band, caught many by surprise due to the inclusion of new features in a typically minor update.
The iOS 26.2.1 update delivers support for the new AirTag 2 and includes unspecified bug fixes. However, what made this update notable was Apple’s decision to issue patches for older devices dating as far back as 2013.
In total, Apple released iOS versions 18.7.4, 16.7.13, 15.8.6 and 12.5.8 to cover a wide range of legacy hardware including the iPhone 5s and original iPad Air.
